How do I find REAL Peace?

I've been pondering the question this morning, and haven't found an answer yet.

You know that feeling when everything around you is loud and crazy and energetic? And you just want to escape? It may not be a stressful energy, but there's more than you can handle?
The way I've coped with that in the past is to close my eyes and imagine a bubble of quiet surrounding me and blocking out the noise. But that bubble doesn't bring me peace. It just disconnects me from everything and everyone around me.

If you have any thoughts or scriptures that you think could help me, please post them below. I could really use this help.

  1. "Peace I leave with you, my peace give I unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you." - John 14:27

I think really the hardest thing is to realize that peace can't come from ourselves or any of the people around us - we just need to learn that Christ is the only one who can bring true peace. And sometimes (and in certain situations), it's very difficult to tune into that peace. I think we always just need to be in tune to the Spirit, and if we aren't, just do those little things that bring the Spirit. Say a little prayer, go through a little scripture, do those things that bring the Spirit, and that will help you to find peace. True peace in the moment, from the Spirit.

I hope that helped at all! ;p It's probably a lot of what we hear, though!

  2. The Lord sanctifies his people. Either they become pure or he removes himself from them. There is not in between. What's more, becoming Perfect and Holy isn't a comfortable thing. We all have weaknesses that we struggle to truly lay at the Lord's feet. If we ask sincerely though, he will help us to become like Him.

Can I mention again that this is hard, even acutely painful at times? You will be persecuted if you're doing Christ's will, because the world hates God's truths. But we are left with a very specific and often overlooked promise about what the Lord will do when we need him most.
John 14:18 "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you."
This will happen "after the trial of [our] faith" (Ether 12:27). He will come after you have kept his commandments and had faith. He will come in a time when you need comfort. But do not doubt that he will come.

Sorry if this is a little off topic. The thought's just been on my mind for a while, and I felt that here would be a good place to put it all down. Thanks for reading.
